Breaking Your Own Glass Ceilings

Becoming the authentic self and tapping into our magnificence share a similar pathway. It requires us to identify our own glass ceilings and break free from these invisible barriers.

A major barrier we struggle with is the stories or narratives we adopt from our family members, teachers, bosses, or anyone we deem to be more knowledgeable than us.

When I was growing up, my father — a kind, very educated and responsible man — would tell me various health issues that came with aging. He would cite specific health problems at the age of 30, 40, 50, and so on.

My father, with all his good intention, wanted to prepare me so that I could brace myself for the future. Perhaps he didn’t want me to be disappointed.

My parents are now in their 80s. The contrast in them has been such a valuable learning opportunity.

My father, who believes in poor health with aging, has been experiencing various health challenges in the last few decades. He focuses a lot on “what could go wrong” so that he can strategize and plan for the worst-case scenarios.

My mother has been healthy and active. Her friends often admire her stamina. As a teenager, my mother left home to study nursing. She approaches situations with curiosity and wonder. Her motto is “let it go, and stop being so calculating!”

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has said, “Knowledge is structured in consciousness.”

This means how we perceive life or interpret events depends on our level of consciousness. If our awareness focuses on “life goes downhill as we age” or “everyone is busy and stressed out,” we will see and experience more of that.

The limited awareness blocks us from picking up any contrary evidences. Even if we notice them, we will dismiss them instead of seeing them as roadmaps for our growth and evolution.

A client, who was told that he had 2 to 3 years to live, met a man in the medical center. This man, who has a similar diagnosis as my client, said this was his 8th year since the diagnosis. This encounter gave my client hope for living longer.

You might think: that was just a coincidence, or it didn’t mean anything. In my experience, the people and situations that we “run into” give us clues on how we can break our own glass ceilings.

Our level of consciousness affects how we interpret these clues and the choices we make, which ultimately affect whether situations will turn out in our favor or not.

I believe my client’s curiosity prompted him to converse with that man. It was his respect for all of life that led him to a very supportive and kind medical team. His openness allowed him to revive a dead tree in his garden using the energetic process I showed him.

Being open and curious expands our consciousness. The more we expand our consciousness, the more we see teachers everywhere, providing exactly what we need to break free and tap into our magnificence.

Whether we are healing diseases, reviving nature, leading teams, or running organizations, our effectiveness diminishes significantly when we operate out of fear, anxiety, insufficiency, defensive or protective mindset.

Your “come from” or “deep why” affects your vibe, presence, choices you make, the way you talk and act. These in turn will affect how people respond to you, and whether situations unfold gracefully or are layered with obstacles.

In my journey, I find it very helpful to adopt a playful or adventurous attitude. In face of challenges, I ask myself “there’s got to be a better or easier way to do this” or “I wonder how this can get better.” Deliberate reframing opens doors!

When I was learning Divine Mother Energy Healing, I had a story about good healing needed to be at least 2 hours long. It was because all the healing done by my teacher was at least 2 hours, if not longer.

To touch more people, I wanted the healing I offer to be shorter. But I had engrained stories about conforming and the value of working harder or longer.

After breaking lots of my own glass ceilings, I gained enough confidence to offer transformative healing in half the time. I can’t tell you how uncomfortable and scary it was to break traditions and share “my way” with my colleagues.

I was afraid of being shunned by my teacher and colleagues, who turned out to be receptive to my perspective. Furthermore, some of my colleagues have been inspired to facilitate the healing in their own ways.

This experience reminds me of Marianne Williamson’s quote:

“As we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence actually liberates others.”

We are living in a time when many, if not all, of us are asked to elevate our consciousness. These development opportunities often show up as various forms of challenges. They are invitations to break free from our glass ceilings.

Whether we choose to react out of fear or anxiety, or be fully present with each situation makes a huge difference. Our way of being, which affects our words and actions, carries a vibrational signature that has a far-reaching effect.

I am offering a 4-week course on Building an Inner Home Happiness. It’s a gentle and fun way to shift your paradigm so that you can cultivate peace and harmony within you no matter what is happening on the outside.
